TURBOTVILLE- Central Columbia (5-3) dominated the Warrior Run (2-6) on the road, 49-0.
The Central Columbia offensive and defensive line came out firing on all cylinders, playing like they had something to prove. The Defenders’ lines on both sides of the ball had no answer as they were outmuscled at the point of attack all game long.
Central defensive end Ian Huntington was all over the Warrior Run backfield and recorded two sacks on the day.
“I think when it comes down to it, I’m pretty quick off the ball,” Huntington said. “I as a defensive end funnel it all in to our linebackers and they do a great job getting what I don’t.”
Isaac Gensemer also had his way with the Warrior Run defense thanks to some good blocking and some masterful running.
Gensemer was very patient with his blockers, waiting for an open seam and hitting it when it came open. His patience helped spring him to 158 yards rushing and three touchdowns.
“I give credit firstly to Jack (Schechterly) and Ky (Seesholtz), my two fullbacks, and my offensive line,” Gensemer said. “They really did a great job this game and every other game of moving bodies and sealing guys off me.”
The offensive line really paved the way for the Central ground attack and did so with two replacements on the offensive line.
One of the replacements, senior Elijah Heintzelman, filling in for LJ Woodward (medical absence), said the offensive line is really playing hard for LJ, who is expected to make a full recovery according to Central head coach Scott Dennis.
“We have a guy who’s currently in the hospital (LJ)," Heintzelman said. "We have to make up for that, and we are playing for him and giving our best effort on every play. My heart goes out to him, you feel like he should be here with you, but I just play the best I can for him, so when we see him we can tell him the score and have him proud of us.”
The offensive line play, which has been a question all year, played quite possibly the best game they’ve had all year. Dennis said having him personally coach the offensive line in practice has really helped.
“We have just been working fundamentals everyday. Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals and they are starting to get it,” Dennis said. “They are getting their face in the right place, their hand placements, their steps, and I think everything is starting to gel right there.”
