ORLANDO — Don't let the headline fool you, Julian Fleming is very much on a business trip.
While he may be enjoying sunny Orlando, Florida with the rest of the nation's top recruits, he's been dominating the UA Future 50 combine.
The Southern Columbia receiver posted two touchdown catches over two Oklahoma commits on his Snapchat story yesterday.
Darion Green-Warren was burnt on deep TD pass to Fleming, in which the junior scored an easy touchdown.
Green-Warren is a 4-star corner out of Santa Ana, California (Mater Dei), and the No. 10 CB in the 2020 class, per Rivals.
His other TD catch came over Jalen Huff, also a six-footer at CB, in the end zone when Huff attempted to make a play on the ball. Fleming stopped, jumped and made the catch as Huff fell early on the pass.
Huff is a 3-star, No. 27 CB in the 2020 class, per Rivals.
The media on hand had plenty to say too.
“Easily the most physically imposing receiver on the field, Julian Fleming is a huge downfield threat. He is so explosive off the line and defensive backs didn’t even try jamming him to slow him down. He made some very impressive catches on crossing routes and with defensive backs hanging on his back,” Rivals.com said.
Fleming also showcased his impressive release and route running against Jaiden Francois.
Fleming had plenty of separation, almost five yards at one point, but the throw to Fleming on the sidelines was too far. Had it been a go-route, there’s a good chance it would have been sixed by the junior star receiver.
On his release, Fleming jabbed to the outside but in a split second, swam past Francois on the inside to get space and it was off to the races after that.
When he wasn't staking his claim at the No. 1 receiver spot in the 2020 class, Fleming enjoyed lighter moments with another receiver in the same class that have dueled with Fleming for the top spot.
Rakim Jarrett, an Ohio State recruit, posed with Fleming in between drills.
Even though the pair fell short of smiling, Fleming and his fellow prospects spent time mini golfing and hanging out in the hotel in their down time.
Fleming also got to meet one of the all-time greats in Deion Sanders.
Sanders coached the defensive backs in drills for the Under Armor All-American game and took time to give some advice to the budding star from Elysburg, PA.
Sanders told him “About hard work and how far IQ could take you in the sport Bc I have the frame already,” Fleming wrote via Twitter messenger.
